Start Chinese New Year 2021 with Full of Luck!

Full of Luck Restaurant is a casual dining concept serving signature classic Cantonese cuisine. I've tried their food a couple of times and am really pleased with the quality. This coming Chinese New Year, they have introduced a range of dishes to welcome the year of the ox.

1. Prosperity Lo Hei with Smoked Salmon and Yuzu Sauce

As per every Chinese New Year, restaurants will try to design their Yu Sheng to represent the zodiac of the year. This cool ox design is made of sweet little popping boba balls and a mix of regular yusheng ingredients e.g. vegetables, peanuts & plum sauce.

Yusheng is usually served with raw fish such as salmon. I like salmon sashimi, but I prefer to have it with just soy sauce and wasabi. So I like that they are pairing it with smoked salmon. Adds a nice saltiness to the yusheng.

2. Auspicious XL Prawn Ball with Bak Kwa Sauce

The prawn balls are deep fried till golden brown and topped with bak kwa sauce. A dish that would be loved by kids for sure. The combination is good, but the sauce is a little bit salty for me.

3. Abundance Money Bag Stuffed with Crabmeat and Pork, served with Golden Pumpkin Sauce

Aesthetically, this is the dish. The presentation is simple, but elegant and gorgeous. The skin of the money bag is not very thick and there is a good amount of crabmeat & pork. Huat ah!

4. Scallion Oil White Jade Noodle with Black Garlic Tiger Prawns

This is not the most food porn worthy dish, but don't ever judge a book by its cover. The tiger prawn is covered thoroughly in black garlic sauce, a strong flavour that is balanced by the noodles that are lightly seasoned with fragrant scallion oil. The kind of comfort food that I would want on any day.

5. Truffled Jade Melon Rings Stuffed with Pork and Abalone

The truffle, pork and abalone are all good, but I was most pleased with the jade melon. It provided a mellow flavour to the dish that complements the strong flavour of the other ingredients.

6. Glutinous Rice wrapped in Lotus Leaf with Tiger Prawns, Scallops and Garlic Spicy Sauce

I've had this last year and fell in love with it instantly. I love glutinous rice, seafood & spicy flavour, so this is really the dish for me. The lotus leaf kept all the ingredients together so that the glutinous rice absorbs in all the flavour in. 10/10. Love it!

7. Double Delights Platter (Honey Glazed Char Siew & Crispy Kurobuta Pork)

Honey Glazed Char Siew is their signature dish and one will definitely understand why after trying it. It is roasted beautifully - tender on the inside with slight char on the outside. The fat to meat ratio is just right where the amount of fats doesn't turn you off due to the greasiness.

The kurobuta pork is nicely done as well, but fared slightly low when being put right next to the amazing char siew.

Overall, it was a very satisfying meal. There are many different sets available. Click https://fullofluck.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/FOLR-CNY-Menu-2021-S.pdf for more information.

Thank you full of luck restaurant for having me!
